Consultation for proposed 400 new homes in
Hampton started
The South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) has been
in development ever since the change in government. Wychavon has now completed the proposal and the SWDP went into a
public consultation process. Roadshows were planned all over Wychavon with the one in Evesham taking place on Wednesday
the 9th of November 2011 at the Town Hall in Evesham. This was the last chance for Hampton residents
to make comments on the proposal. It was good to see many Hampton residents out in force and lots of comments were made. The
comments are still being processed by the SWDP team and have started appearing on the consultation document now. See the 'Development'
page or follow the link below for more information on how access the document and read the comments.

Speeding on Pershore Road
Residents in Hampton have complained about the speed some cars drive
at when entering Hampton from Pershore. Even lorries often go at speeds well in excess of 30 mph and don't slow down until
they arrive at the traffic lights in time for the existing speed camera. We have been investigating the feasibility of a speed
camera further up towards the top of Pershore Road. However, due to the ongoing developments in Martin Avenue and the planned
traffic lights on the junction of Peewit Road with Pershore Road it is not possible at this time to establish a new speed
camera at the requested position. Once the new road layout is completed the existing speed camera is likely to be moved and
we will request that it will be moved to a more useful position.
Martin Avenue Development is under way
Houses in Martin Avenue have been demolished to make way for 160 brand
new houses. The first new houses have been built and residents moved in. Rooftop Housing Group has received 4.2
million pounds in government funding to replace 60 houses on Martin Avenue and Bredon Crescent with 160 brand new houses.
The planning application was approved by Wychavon Council in May of this 2010. The council placed numerous
conditions on the approval and these will need to be met by the developer. The developer is Bellway Homes and they plan to
complete the development in the next two years in different phases. Information should have been put up for local residents
on how to contact them with any queries. If you have issues that you feel are not being addressed please contact us on the
contact details below.

Plans for drug rehabilitation centre in Hampton cancelled
Following presure from local Hampton residents a plan to locate
a drug rehabilition centre in School Road in Hampton has been abandoned.
Rooftop Housing stated: "In the face of sustained opposition from the local community, all of the partners involved in the project have decided
not to continue with the proposal to use 44 school road as accommodation for local people under going drug rehabilitation". We
understand that an application to change the use of the building to 'residential' has since been made.
