Confusion over future of South Worcestershire Core Strategy
Following the election of a new government the future of the South Worcestershire
Joint Core Strategy (SWJCS) is uncertain. There has been strong indication from the new government that the SWJCS will
be scrapped but it is unclear what will replace it. The residents association has contacted Wychavon about the proposed site
in Hampton and they have confirmed that they do not know what system or process is going to replace the SWJCS. There is nothing
from stopping the developer from submitting a planning application at any time. Recently a lot of surveying activity has been
taking place around the site and Pershore road so we expect the developer to still be planning to submit a planning application.
The residents association will be closely following events as they develop to understand the impact for the proposed Hampton
site.
Since the residents association contacted Wychavon Planning department the following letter has been published
by the South Worcestershire Core Strategy. It also includes a letter from Eric Pickles MP the Secretary of State for Communities
and Local Government on the abolition of regional strategies.

Martin
Avenue development to start in September
Rooftop Housing Group has received 4.2 million pounds in government
funding to replace 60 houses on Martin Avenue and Bredon Crescent with 160 brand new houses. The planning application was
approved by Wychavon Council in May of this year. The council placed numerous conditions on the approval and these
will need to be met by the developer. The developer is Bellway Homes and they plan to complete the development over the next
two to three years in different phases. When the development starts information will be put up for local residents
on how to contact them with any queries.

Vodafone radio base station planned on Pershore
Road
Vodafone UK Ltd has applied for planning permission to erect a radio
base station on Pershore Road. The plans and supporting
documents can be viewed on the Wychavon planning website link below. As residents
we had until the 25th of March 2009 to make comments on this planning application. A decision was due at the end of April
but a final decision has been deffered due to objections from Wychavon council, the developper and residents. A full planning
application will now be required from Vodafone UK and further discussions with various parties will need to take place with
regard to alternative siting of the phone mast.

with this development please follow the link below. In the search criteria enter '09' for the year and '00468'

General concerns about radio base stations (mobile phone masts) relate to
their environmental impact and any possible health impact of the radiofrequency emission from the masts. We have created
a fact file with information on mobile phone masts, base stations, the planning process relating to these and information
from the department of health (see link below). There are controversies around the health impact of mobile phone masts and
some research suggests that they should be at least 400 yards removed from any residential properties which
this proposed mast won't be.

Further SWJCS consultation events planned
There are further consultation events planned this
autumn on the South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy (SWJCS). For the Evesham area an exhibition and workshop is planned
for Wednesday the 11th of November from 10:00 am till 8:00 pm, and Saturday the 12th of December from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm,
in the Evesham Town Hall on the Market Square.
The SWJCS team have also published a questionnaire for local people
to complete to have their say. You can download it below with the accompanying leaflet and return it to the address on the
back of the questionnaire.

Sneak preview of the plans for Hampton
We have had a sneak
preview of the first draft of the development plan for Hampton and are pleased to say that our wish list
has been incorporated. The developer has taken our suggestions on board and the first draft has allocated space for:
1. Mini Worcester Woods 2. Village green 3. Playground 4. Playing fields 5. Allotments
This
is great news and shows that when a community unites we can achieve something. A word of caution is that it was just a first
draft of the plan and plans can still change. More information will be available in the HRA newsletter that will be published
this month.
Proposal for 800 new homes in Hampton
Did you know... ... that Wychavon Council are proposing to build 800 new homes in Hampton? ... that
will almost double the size of Hampton? ... that the plans were issued for public consultation in September 2008? ... that this is our opportunity to influence the plans and make our views known?
As the Hampton Residents Association
we will act as a voice for Hampton and represent the views of the Hampton community.
These proposed developments
are driven by the South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy (SWJCS). The first link below takes you to an extract from the
options paper relating to developments in Evesham. The second link will take you to their website where you will find all
of their publications. Some of it makes interesting reading and includes maps of potential development sites.

The South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy
On the 3rd of February 2009 there was a presentation from the SWJCS on the feedback
received from the consultation process in September 2008. This presentation ackowledged the work that the Hamtpon Residents
Association had submitted (see link below for the document). The SWJCS is now considering plans to reduce the number of houses
in Hampton from 800 to 400. They have identified an alternative site of Cheltenham road for additional housing. This site
has not gone through the consultation process yet and until this has happened the formal plan will not be changed. A final
version of the development plan is expected to be published at the end of this year.

In the meantime the Hampton Residents Association has been contacted by the developer of the
Hampton site and we have been invited to take part in the design process. This is an excellent opportunity for us
as residents to influence the development plan for Hampton. To help your residents association determine what you felt was
important in your community we organised an open day on Saturday the 7th of March at
the Evesham Operatic and Amateur Dramatic Club. There was an excellent turn out and we are very pleased with
your views and opinions. The responses have all been collated by the HRA and will be presented to the developer at the
next meeting. The question we posed to Hampton residents
on the open day was about what facilities they would like to be provided in Hampton as part of any new development. We asked
residents to rank them in order of importance and the following was the outcome: - Mini Worcester Woods
- Village Green
- Playground
- Playing Fields
- Allotments
We have taken these ideas to the developer and in the first draft of the plan space has been allocated for
all five of our requests. For more information see the HRA newsletter which will be published this month.
